Welcome to the Baby House blog!

Here you will find information on new products we are sourcing and updates on our range.

You will also find tips, hints and even snapshots of my day-to-day life with three small children.

It's funny how your life changes once children come along. 10 years ago I had just about finished my marketing degree and only THOUGHT I knew what lack of sleep meant. Ha!

I would hunt high and low for *in* clothes to make sure I had a different outfit for each night of the weekend.

Now I think something is wrong if I get more than six hours sleep and I hunt for an outfit that washes and wears well and did I mention tolerates baby spit?

Which brings me to the hunt for a playdough recipe (as opposed to the past life hunt of the best cocktail recipe!).

My eldest son has started kindergarten this year and apparently, part of that means Mum gets to do playdough roster (along with laundry roster, fruit cutting roster... and I was too scared to look at the rest of the roster board).

I made my first lot of playdough today and I have to tell you, I rock!! After two batches of fantastic playdough I have declared myself the playdough queen - at least to my children anyway. Although, we did have a mini debate on this fact when Master Four told me HE rocked as after all, he did stir the flour and salt together. Fair enough.

So, here is the most fantastic and easiest playdough recipe.

Cooked Playdough

You will need:

2 cups of plain flour
1 cup salt
2 tablespoons of oil (it didn't say what type so I used vegetable)
4 tablespoons of cream of tartar
2 cups of water
Food colouring
Saucepan and wooden spoon

What to do:

Mix dry ingredients in the saucepan.
Mix in oil, water and food colouring.
Cook for 2-5 minutes over medium heat, stirring constantly.
The playdough is ready when it leaves the sides of the pan.

This playdough will keep in an air tight container for a couple of months, dependent on your climate. Keep it in the fridge if you are in a hot climate.

There you go. My very first blog post and the worlds best playdough recipe! Enjoy :)

Great recipe for destruction! :-)

Would you mind if I posted this recipe on my blog for the mom's who read there? I wanted to ask first, I definitely don't want to steal anything.
